Take time off

When we think about doing our best work, many of us think that the harder we work, the more we will accomplish. And while that can be true, I think it is important to remember to take a break and take care of ourselves. What happens to our initiative and the quality of our results when we are exhausted…or sick?

These are difficult times for many of us, and we may not be able to justify spending the money for a true vacation. Consider simply taking one day this month to do what you want to do to relax. Read a book. Listen to music. Do some yoga.

If you are willing to spend a small amount, go to the museum or the zoo or a movie. Try something new. In Houston, we have these great Asian reflexology places where you can get a one hour massage for $20 plus a $5 tip. What is available where you live?

Having more energy means we can accomplish more and build our competencies. Think about what you can do to recharge and increase your energy level, particularly during the holidays.  And by the way, happy holidays to all my readers.
